On Tuesday morning, July 24th, 2018, His Holiness Aram I received Mr. Antoine Laham, Assistant to the Special UN Envoy to Syria Mr. Staffan de Mistura, at the pontifical residence in Bikfaya.

Mr. Laham updated His Holiness about the recent accomplishments of their office in the region and the current situation in Syria. In turn, His Holiness stressed the imperative of reaching a solution of the Syrian crisis in order to initiate the rehabilitation and rebuilding process. He underlined the important role of the Christian communities, including the Armenian community, in the Syrian political scene and reconstruction of Syria.
