On Thursday, July 12th, 2018, a group of university students coming from various countries of the Middle East and Africa visited His Holiness Aram I in Bikfaya as part of their three-week theological intensive courses. His Holiness Aram I delivered a lecture entitled “The Church and the Society,” underlining that Christianity, in its essence and objectives, is not a separate entity from the society. Jesus Christ’s mission was oriented toward social values, therefore; today’s churches cannot remain passive before issues and challenges societies are subjected to today, clamed Aram I.
Following the brief overview, His Holiness shed light on the challenges that churches face in the Middle East. Here, Aram I emphasized the importance of taking the church to the people beyond the church walls. In this regard, His Holiness Aram I suggested some actions that churches can take together in their vocation toward Christian witness.
