ACUSA CELEBRATES ITS 55TH ANNIVERSARY

On Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, under the auspices of His Holiness Aram I and sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Sdepan and Tamar Der Bedrossian, the Armenian Church University Students’ Association marked the 55th anniversary of its establishment with a Gala dinner at Ruby hall in Hotel Le Royal, Dbayye.

The Chairperson of the Association Garen Yosulkanian delivered the welcoming remarks, where he gave a brief account on the history and mission of ACUSA. He concluded his speech by extending his gratitude to His Holiness Aram I for the support and guidance they receive, as well as congratulated him on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his priesthood ordination. Yosulkanian also thanked the sponsors of the Gala, and all those who contributed to the event.

Following the opening speech, the attendees recalled their memories in ACUSA with a short video and enjoyed a brief artistic program that the current ACUSA members had prepared for the evening.

The spiritual advisor of ACUSA Rev. Fr. Tatoul Kardanakian took the floor to address the audience. Concluding, he invited to the stage artist Raffi Yedalian who had sculpted a metal bust of His Holiness. Yedalian presented his gift to His Holiness Aram I and gave a short description of how he had come to realize the bust. He stated that the bust is the expression of His Holiness’ 50 years of service and leadership.

Finally, His Holiness Aram I gave his pontifical speech. He congratulated the 55th anniversary of ACUSA and commended the students who gather around the Armenian Church and dedicate their academic knowledge to the Armenian community. He encouraged the old and current ACUSA members to continue being active and bringing new breath to the welfare of the society.

Sevag Amroyan, a singer from Armenia, performed at the Gala dinner Armenian national songs.

It is to be noted that, the income of the Gala dinner will be allocated to establish an ACUSA Fund
