HIS HOLINESS ARAM I VISITS THE BIRDS’ NEST ORPHANAGE AND THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE ORPHANS’ “ARAM BEZIKIAN” MUSEUM

On May 4th, 2018, His Holiness Aram I visited the Bird’s Nest Orphanage and the Armenian Genocide Orphans’ “Aram Bezikian” Museum in Byblos.

At Bird’s Nest, His Holiness met with the administration and staff to discuss the continuing mission of the orphanage, whose legacy is not only rooted in its significant work in assembling and sheltering orphans of the Genocide, but also in its humanitarian work. Aram I stressed that during the Armenian Genocide, the Birds’ Nest became family to those whose parents fell victim of the atrocities, and, after more than a century, the orphanage continues to have a central role in the nurturing of its students, under the supervision of the Catholicosate of Cilicia.

After spending quality time with the orphans, His Holiness toured the orphanage to follow up with the current renovations, which will be providing the students with new dormitories.

His Holiness Aram I visited the Armenian Genocide Orphan’s “Aram Bezikian” Museum with the vice-director of the museum committee V. Rev. Bedros Manuelian, where he received a briefing on the museum’s activities and expressed his gratitude.
