THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA URGES ARMENIANS TO AVOID CONFLATING THE SANCTITY OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE WITH THE CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION UNFOLDING IN ARMENIA

On the morning of April 23rd, 2018, His Holiness Aram I presided over a meeting of the Cilicia Brotherhood, in Antelias. His Holiness took the opportunity to discuss the current political situation unfolding in Armenia. His Holiness stressed that the church, the motherland and its people are one; therefore, the church cannot remain indifferent and silent in the face of the outbursts and grievances of the Armenian people. The church has an obligation to stand with the rights of the people, whilst upholding civil law and inviolable values.

 

His Holiness Aram I and the Brotherhood concluded the meeting by appealing to the beloved children of our people to abstain from acts that can further increase the tension and mark the remembrance of April 24th with utmost and complete dedication   to the memory of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.
