His Holiness Aram I inaugurates the picture exhibition, entitled ‘The Hope of Renewal,’ in Antelias

On Thursday 25 May 2017, His Holiness Aram I inaugurated an exhibition of the paintings of Ms Nanar Kurumlyian-Hajian at the ‘Cilicia Hall’. The event was organized by the Christian Education Department of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Catholicos.

Representing the department, Mrs Janine Tanielian, a member of the Education Committee, welcomed the guests, and, on behalf of the department, she expressed their good wishes to the Catholicos and their prayer that he long continue translating the service mission of the Catholicosate of Cilicia to the Church and the people. Ms Nanar Kurumlyian-Hajian thanked Catholicos Aram I for providing the opportunity for her to exhibit her paintings and said that growing up within the walls of the Catholicosate inspired her and helped shaped her talent. Speaking on behalf of His Holiness Aram I, Bishop Kegham Khatcherian said that the exhibition demonstrated through art the meaning of ‘2017 Year of Renewal,’ declared by the Catholicos. Of the 62 paintings, 19 were inspired by Nerses Shenorhali’s “Havadov Khosdovanim “(With faith I confess”). Nerses Shenorhali, the medieval poet, theologian, composer and Catholicos is considered as the ‘Second Illuminator’ by the Armenian Church.
