Ambassador Maher Kheir of Lebanon held a special luncheon in honor of the His Holiness Aram I. Representatives of the Lebanese community, spiritual leaders and other ambassadors in Kuwait were also among the guests.
In his welcome the ambassador described the Catholicos as a leading advocate of interfaith dialogue and cooperation internationally, regionally and in Lebanon. In his response, His Holiness described Lebanon as a country of coexistence between religions and cultures, and, referring to Kuwait, he added, “Both in Lebanon and Kuwait, dialogue is existential and not theoretical. Speaking of the Armenian community in Lebanon, he confirmed their commitment to a strong and prosperous Lebanon. The visit ended with an exchange of gifts.
His Holiness Aram I and his delegation then went to the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia. In the absence of the Ambassador, the Catholicos was received by the Consul General, Levon Bedrossian, who, in his welcoming speech, highlighted the growing relationship between Kuwait and Armenia. Mr Bedrossian spoke of the cooperation between the Armenian diaspora and Armenia and the contribution of the Armenian community in Kuwait.
In his response, Catholicos Aram I told the Consul General that the Emir of Kuwait had praised the contribution of the Armenian community to the country. His Holiness applauded the cooperation between the Armenian diaspora and Armenia and added that the strengthening of Armenia is a priority for the community in Kuwait and for the Armenian diaspora everywhere.
