The University in Salzburg in cooperation with the Holy See of Etchmiadzin and the Holy See of Cilicia organized an international conference on “Monasticism in the Armenian Churches” from 14-17 April 2013.

The conference began with a Benedictine vespers at the St. Peter’s Cathedral. On Monday 15 April, Archbishop Nareg Alemezian the Ecumenical Officer and Dean of the Seminary presented a paper on the theme “The challenges to the Brotherhood of Cilicia in the 21st Century”. The conference then explored differences in monasticism between the East and the West, and different training programmes.
