Recently, a delegation of the Association headed by its General Secretary Sameh Ashouri, also Chairman of the Egyptian Lawyers Syndicate, and Samah Kreisi, Vice Chairman of the Jordanian Lawyers Syndicate, as well as lawyers from Morocco, Syria and Lebanon, accompanied by Member of Parliament Hagop Pakradouni met with His Holiness Aram I. The delegation and the Catholicos discussed the possibility of presenting the Armenian Genocide as crime against humanity to the international courts of justice.

His Holiness thanked the delegation for their concern in the Armenian Genocide and said the Armenian Genocide, perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey, had political roots. He said, “The issue is that of justice and human rights and not religion.” He then added, “I would like you to emphasize that while the Ottomans tried to exterminate us, the Muslim Arab world received our survivors with open arms.” At the end of the meeting the delegates visited the Martyr’s Chapel.
