19 December 2016. On Monday morning, His Holiness Aram I received Dr Abouzar Ebrahimi, President of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, and his colleagues. Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian, Prelate of the Diocese of Tehran, Bishop Krikor Chiftjian, Diocese of Aderbadagan, Very Rev. Sipan Kechejian, Pontifical Vicar, Diocese of Isfahan and Bishop Magar Askarian, Vicar of the Diocese of Tehran; representatives of the Islamic Culture and Relations organization and the Armenian community also attended the meeting.
The Catholicos and Dr Ebrahimi discussed the outcome of the 7th Christian-Muslim Dialogue held in Tehran during 13-14 October, assessing the experience and affirming the statement, “On the topic of religion and violence, both Christianity and Islam share a common understanding and position.” They also discussed the importance of the dialogue between the Catholicosate of Cilicia and the Islamic Republic of Iran and agreed to continue the process and share the conclusions with their constituencies.
