His Holiness Aram I Meets with the Presidents of the Vatican Dicasteries

During his three-day visit to the Vatican and following the private meeting with Pope Francis, His Holiness Aram I held several working meetings with the Heads of the Decasteries.

The Catholicos met with Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, with whom he discussed the Middle East and the state of its Christian presence.

The other meetings focussed on inter-church and ecumenical relations. His Holiness discussed the relationship between the Catholic Church and the Armenian Church with Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in the Roman Curia.

His meeting with Cardinal Kurt Koch, the Head of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, focused on issues and concerns related to the ecumenical movement, the ongoing theological dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches, and, more specifically, relations between the Armenian and Catholic Churches.

Later, His Holiness Aram I visited the Embassy of Armenia to the Holy See. The Catholicos praised the Ambassador Michael Minassian for his efforts at strengthening relations between Armenia and the Vatican.

His Holiness Aram I concluded his formal meetings by visiting the Levonian School of the Armenian Catholic Church, where he expressed his appreciation for their religious and spiritual education.

The Very Rev Housig Mardirossian, the Ecumenical Officer of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, accompanied His Holiness Aram I on the trip.
