5 September 2016. On Monday morning, His Holiness Aram I and his delegation left for Amman to attend the Assembly of the MECC. Catholicos Aram I, who is one of the four Presidents of the Council representing the Oriental Orthodox Family, will be the keynote speaker. He will address the current conflicts in the Middle East and their challenge to the member churches. The membership of the MECC includes all local churches. Given the importance of the timing of the Assembly, all the patriarchs of member churches will attend.
The delegation representing the Armenian Church includes: Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian, Prelate of Tehran, Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, Prelate of the Diocese of Peria (Syria), Very Rev Housig Mardirossian, Director of the Ecumenical Relations Office, Rev Bedros Manuelian, Director of Audio Visiual Department, and Dr Jean Salmanian, representative of the Catholicosate of Cilicia on the Christian-Muslim Dialogue Committee. His Holiness will leave the meeting to return on Thursday 8 September 2016.
