8 November 2015. While in Egypt to Chair the Executive Committee meeting of the Middle East Council of Churches, His Holiness Aram I met with the Coptic Orthodox Patriarch, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, and Metropolitan Amba Bishoy of Damiet, the ecumenical relations officer. They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two churches and assessed the outcome of the Executive Committee Meeting. They also discussed the proposed General Assembly of the MECC to be held in September 2016, in Jordan.
