His Holiness Aram I meets His Beatitude Hieronymos II, Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece

 

2 September 2015. On Wednesday morning, Catholicos Aram I was met at the Athens airport by Metropolitan Meliton and government officials.

 

In the afternoon His Holiness met His Beatitude Hieronymos II at his residence in the presence of several high-ranking clergy. After the official welcoming speech of the Archbishop, His Holiness spoke of the long relationship between the two Churches. The two hierarchs then discussed the situation in the Middle East, the economic problems in Greece and the issue of migrants arriving by boats. The visit ended with an exchange of gifts.

 

His Holiness Aram I’s delegation included: Archbishop Khoren Doghramadjian, Prelate of the Armenian Diocese of Greece, Very Rev. Housig Mardirossian, the Ecumenical Officer, Rev. Mesrob Sarkissian, the Catholicosal Vicar in the United Arab Emitates, Rev. Hovhannes Saghdjian, Priests Hrayr Nigolian and Nareg Shahinian, Mr Ara Mangoyan, the President of the Church Council, and Mr Boghos Cholakian.
