The martyr of one Church is a martyr of all Churches, Stated His Holiness Aram I

 

29 August 2015. On Saturday Catholicos Aram I, attended the Holy Mass at the St Mary’s Syriac Catholic Monastery to celebrate the beatification of Flaviano Michel Melki by Pope Francis. The martyr Bishop was killed for his Christian faith during the same period as the Armenian Genocide in 1915.

 

At the end of the Mass, celebrated by Patriarch Younan II, and the reading of the message of Pope Francis, religious leaders were invited to give their messages. His Holiness spoke of the Armenian martyrs of the Genocide and of Bishop Flaviano, and said that these martyrs, who are always present in the life of the Church, are crying out to Christians to hold on to their rights in the Middle East and continue bearing witness to their Christian faith despite the violence in the region.
