Dear Vice President Biden,

It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the death of your son Beau Biden on Saturday after his valiant battle with brain cancer. I felt saddened by the loss of a young life—a man who has given so much devotion to his family and country, and who had a future that could have been filled with many more accomplishments.

I was honored to meet you just a few weeks ago when you attended the Ecumenical Service at the National Cathedral in Washington on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Please know that the Armenian American community under my spiritual jurisdiction extends to you and your entire family heartfelt condolences on this great loss.

There are no words that can lessen the pain of losing a child. You will be in my prayers asking our Lord and Savior to grace you with His comfort. May Beau’s noble soul rest in eternal peace and his memory remain always as a living symbol of love for God, country, and humankind.
