On Saturday 23 May 2015, Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian led a funeral service to mark the passing of Archbishop Gorün. Participating in the service were the family of the deceased, members of the brotherhood, members of the Executive Council of the Church and members of the community. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian celebrated the Holy Liturgy; Archbishop Yeprem performed the final unction and read the eulogy in the absence of His Holiness Aram I.
In his eulogy, His Holiness portrayed the late Archbishop as a devoted servant of the Church and the people, an accomplished researcher and writer, a spiritual leader, an eloquent speaker and a good-humoured communicator. The Catholicos concluded his eulogy by describing the deceased as a loyal senior member of the brotherhood, who served Catholicoi Zareh, Khoren and Karekin under the most difficult times of the current history of the Catholicosate.
Before carrying the body to the Mausoleum of the Brotherhood of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, the clergy kissed the anointed forehead of the deceased and bid him farewell.
