On Friday, 24 May 2013, Rt. Rev. Dr. Munib Younan met with His Holiness Aram I. The Bishop, who is also a President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), representing the Evangelical family of Churches, first spoke of the political situation in the Holy Land and the plight of Christians there. The two MECC Presidents then discussed the evolution of the situation in the region and its impact on the MECC member churches; they agreed to propose that the MECC organize a meeting of the Heads of Churches in the region either in Lebanon or Cyprus to discuss their difficulties, and state their perspectives and expectations with one voice.
