2 April 2014. On Wednesday evening the UN-Undersecretary Baroness Valerie Amos, who was on a one-day visit to Lebanon to discuss the status of Syrian refugees, met with His Holiness Aram I in Antelias.

His Holiness Aram I welcomed the Under-Secretary and expressed his appreciation to her for including the situation in Kessab in her report to the Security Council. The Catholicos explained the circumstances under which the population had left and their current situation in Latakia. His Holiness also spoke of the precarious situation of all Armenians, those displaced from their homes in other parts of Syria and the current refugees in Lebanon. He then provided the Baroness with reports and fact sheets on the situation in both countries.
