14 March 2014. On the occasion of 2014, the Year of the Elderly, instituted by Catholicos Aram I, one hundred elderly people visited Antelias. They first attended the Lenten Sunrise service (Arevakal) at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral and then met with His Holiness Aram I. After welcoming them, His Holiness said, “After the tragic Genocide one hundred years ago, by virtue of your determination to live, your deep faith and hard work, you set the foundation for our survival and resurrection as a nation. We shall not forget your hardship and sacrifice. By celebrating 2014 as the Year of the Elderly, we pay honor and respect to your generation; because of you we are here today.”
