On Friday 23 August 2013, His Holiness Aram I met with His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara al-Rai in Bkerkeh at the patriarchal headquarters. The meeting was held in the presence of former Patriarch Sfeir, the two assistant bishops of Patriarch al-Rai and Archbishop Nareg Alemezian, who accompanied the Catholicos.

The focus of their discussion was the current situation in Lebanon and the impact of the conflicts in the region on Christians in the Middle East.

The meeting continued over a lunch hosted by Patriarch al-Rai.
