A DELEGATION FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TEKEYAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION VISITED HIS HOLINESS ARAM I

Zartonk – On Wednesday, March 4th, 2020, a delegation from the Board of Trustees of the Tekeyan Cultural Association, headed by Hagop Kasardjian and consisted of Ani Latchinian-Magarian, Dr. Hovig Vartanian and Dr. Antranig Dakessian, visited His Holiness Aram I.

 

During the meeting they discussed issues concerning Armenians in general and Lebanese Armenians in particular, especially in light of the current Lebanese socio-economical crisis.

 

His Holiness underlined the vital role of education in community preservation and thus stressed the imperative of sustaining the Armenian schools. He stated that alongside the Armenian Church the Armenian schools have been instrumental in conserving the Armenian Identity in the Armenian Diaspora. In this regard, the Catholicos commended the Tekeyan Cultural Association for its ongoing efforts in the cultural field and in preserving the Armenian heritage. He also shed light on the importance of collaboration between various Armenian organizations and associations.

 

n turn, Kasardjian expressed his gratitude to His Holiness for his paternal care and faithfulness to the mission of the church, especially in regards to the Lebanese-Armenian community, as they navigate through these challenging times. Kasardjian emphasized the pivotal role of the person of His Holiness, one that can that unite the various factions of the Armenian people, and encourage them to act as one for the sake of overcoming all hardships.
