HIS HOLINESS ARAM I CONGRATULATES THE NEWLY ELECTED ARMENIAN PATRIARCH OF CONSTANTINOPLE

On December 11th, 2019, His Holiness Aram I received a letter from the Chair of the special delegates council of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople Khatchig Janel informing that H.B. Sahak Mashalian was elected as the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.

 

His Holiness extended a congratulatory letter to Bishop Mashalian in which he expressed his spiritual joy and brotherly love on the occasion of his election. In the letter, Aram I stated that after two years of vacancy and facing various challenges, with the blessing of God, the Patriarchate elects its new Patriarch to continue its century-old mission. The Catholicos said that the Holy See of Cilicia and himself have developed close fraternal relations with the previous late patriarchs: Karekin and Mesrob, and assured that a new page will open between the two seats to continue the close cooperation.
