On October 5^th, 2019, a meeting took place between His Holiness Aram I and the representatives of the UN office for Syria, in Geneva. The focus of discussion was the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution (2254) which calls the drafting of a new constitution for Syria. A committee composed of 50 representing the government, 50 representing the opposition and 50 representing the civil society, will be in charge of preparing the new constitution.

His Holiness welcomed the UN decision and the engagement of all parties, including the Christian communities of Syria, in this important process.
