On Friday evening, 2 August 2013, a large number of clergy, artists and parents of the Sunday School students gathered at the Der Melkonian Theater in Bourj Hammoud to participate in the selection of the “Star Child Singer.” This was the third annual Children Song Contest, an event instituted when His Holiness Aram I declared “2010 Year of the Child.”

The Head of the Sunday School Department, Rev. Ghevont Pentezian, and Director Ms. Tamar Nazarian were assisted by a jury of experts in music, singing and dancing from different Armenian cultural organizations. After the six candidates who had been selected over a period of months performed, the jury, with the participation of the members of the audience, chose three finalists. Missak Azadian was crowned “Star Child Singer 3.” The directorate of the Sunday Schools movement of the Catholicosate of Cilicia also presented the runners-up with special gifts.
