THE INTERNATIONAL ECUMENICAL YOUTH MEETING PARTICIPANTS VISIT HIS HOLINESS ARAM I

On Sunday March 24th, participants of the International Ecumenical Youth Meeting, organized by the Taize Community in collaboration with the Churches in Lebanon and the Middle East Council of Churches, attended Divine Liturgy at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias. Following the Mass, they had the opportunity to meet with His Holiness Aram I at the Main Hall of the Catholicosate.

The Catholicos greeted the youth coming from more than 45 countries and churches and expressed his joy in witnessing a true ecumenical encounter. He underlined that the youth is the essence of a community and commended their service to their churches and to God. Although you come from different churches, you all belong to the Church of God, stated His Holiness. The Catholicos also talked about the present-day challenges of any Christian youth and encouraged them to continue in their mission.

Rev. Fr. Hrant Tahanian, Director of the Ecumenical Relations Department at the Catholicosate, and member of the Executive Committee of the International Ecumenical Youth Meeting, briefed His Holiness about the program of the gathering that had been covered thus far and introduced the guests.

The meeting was concluded with a group photo, after which each received a cross as a souvenir from His Holiness and the Armenian Church.
