THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA PARTICIPATES IN THE CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 175TH ANNIVERSARY OF PAZMAVEB

On October 19th and 20th, 2018, a conference was held in Yerevan, Armenia, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Armenian scholarly journal Pazmaveb. The conference was organized by the Republic of Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora, Armenian National Academy of Science and the Mekhitarists Congregation. Jirayr Tanielian, the director of the Educational-Armenological Center at the Catholicosate, participated in the conference to deliver His Holiness Aram I’s address to the conference and also present his paper on “The First Historian of the Armenian Journalism.”

 

In the address, the Catholicos Aram I commended Pazmaveb for its 175 years of accomplishments in Armenology, philology and literature, and stated that it continues to serve as a resource for experts, as well as students alike, in Armenian Studies. His Holiness also shed light on the contemporary challenges that Armenology faces.Ā 

 

Jirayr Tanielian presented the topic on the first historian of the Armenian journalism who is also the first editor of Pazmaveb Fr. Gabriel Aivazovsky. Ā
