THE PATRIARCHS OF THE COPTIC AND SYRIAC CHURCHES VISIT HIS HOLINESS ARAM I

On Friday evening, June 22nd, His Holiness Aram I received His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Episcopate, and His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, at St. Mary’s Monastery in Bikfaya.

The three Holy Fathers first offered prayers in front of the St. Martyrs’ open-air altar and then laid flowers in front of the Memorial Monument in memory of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, accompanied by the Cilician Brotherhood who chanted the Lord’s Prayer and “Ourakh Ler.”

Afterwards, a reception was held in the hall of the Monastery, where His Holiness Aram I welcomed the guests and presented each Patriarch a copy of the oldest manuscript of the “Book of Lamentations” of St. Gregory of Narek.

It is noteworthy, that the meeting was also an opportunity to reaffirm the special friendship and bound that unites the three sister churches.
