A JOINT CONCERT ON THE OCCASION OF THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS HOLINESS ARAM I’S ORDINATION INTO THE PRIESTHOOD

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of His Holiness Aram I ‘s ordination into priesthood, on Sunday, April 29th, 2018, the Catholicosate’s “Shnorhali” choir and the Armenian Thelogical Seminary’s “Armash” choir gave a joint concert in the “Jirayr and Tsoline Nalbandian” auditorium, at the Armenian United College.

 

The director of both choirs, Monk Zaven Najarian, had selected a repertoire of Armenian national songs. The 40+ members of “Shnorhali” performed during the first part of the concert and the 20+ members of “Armash” performed during the second part of the concert, and joined their talents to perform during the third part of the evening. In addition, students from the Seminary enriched the evening with poem recitals, accompanied by students on the piano and duduk.

 

After the concert, His Holiness Aram I took the stage to give his pontifical address. His Holiness praised the choirs and wished the young director, who had taken charge of the role merely a year prior, a successful career. His Holiness Aram I also stressed that the Armenian Church had not limited and does not limit its vocation to religious mission, but has played and still plays a central role in the nation building process, through cultural, literary, arts, and even revolutionary exploits.
