14 January 2017. On Saturday morning, the Armenian Catholic Patriarch Krikor Bedros XX Gabroyan, accompanied by four senior clergy met with Catholicos Aram I at his Office. Archbishops Sebouh Sarkissian, Prelate of the Diocese of Tehran, Shahan Sarkissian, Prelate of the Diocese of Peria (Aleppo) and Very Rev Torkom Donoyan also attended the meeting.

The Patriarch thanked the Catholicos for his recent pastoral visit to Aleppo and promised to support all efforts to revive the community. The two Prelates, Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, Diocese of Peria, and Mgr Bedros Miryatian, Armenian Catholic Archbishop of Aleppo, described the impact of the visit on their communities and thanked the Catholicos for his initiative.

At the end of the meeting His Holiness Aram I and Patriarch Krikor Bedros XX Gabroyan agreed to encourage the clergy and mobilise the humanitarian and cultural organisations to aid the project of rebuilding the Armenian communities in Syria, particularly that of Aleppo.
