16 August 2016. On Tuesday afternoon, in Geneva, His Holiness Aram I met Staffan de Mistura, the UN mediator, and his two assistants. Very Rev Housig Mardirossian, Director of the Ecumenical Relations Department, and Ms Teny Simonian, the Ecumenical Representative in Switzerland, also attended the meeting.

In response to Catholicos Aram I’s concerns about the human toll being exacted by the conflict and the suffering of the people, the UN mediator expressed the hope that while monitoring the situation in the region, they might succeed to building trust among the different parties, stop the violence and seek peaceful solutions.
