Representatives of the Catholicosate of Cilicia Participate in the Executive and Central Committee (CC) Meetings of the World Council of Churches (WCC)

The Executive and Central Committees of the WCC met from 21-28 June 2016 in Trondheim (Norway), focusing their discussions on the WCC’s current theme of a “pilgrimage of justice and peace.” The Very Reverend Housig Mardirossian, Ecumenical Officer, and Ms Teny Pirri-Simonian, the Ecumenical Representative in Switzerland and Europe, represented the Catholicosate of Cilicia.

The agenda included the reports of the Moderator and the General Secretary, special plenaries on ‘Religion and Violence,’ ‘the Middle East,’ and ‘Children’s Rights’; the participants were also introduced to the native people and the culture of Norway. The members of the standing committees of the CC discussed the plenary presentations and administrative matters proposed by the staff, after which they made recommendations and took decisions. The Central Committee elected among its members a Committee to plan for the 11th Assembly in 2021. Ms Teny Pirri-Simonian, in view of her long ecumenical experience, was elected.

Ms Pirri-Simonian also represented the Catholicosate of Cilicia at the Executive Committee of the WCC, which met 20-21 June 2016.
