With the blessing of His Holiness Aram I, five sub-deacons and 20 acolytes are ordained in Antelias

14 June 2015. On Sunday, during the Holy Liturgy, students of the higher classes of the seminary were ordained as acolytes and sub-deacons.

Following the singing of the Lords Prayer, Rev. Father Karekin Shekherdemian led the candidates to the altar. After the reading of prayers and chanting of hymns, Archbishop Norayr ordained the acolytes with the tasks of ‘readers’ and ‘defendants of the teachings of the Church’. He then continued the ritual and ordained the five candidates as sub-deacons and gave them the Orarion, which is the distinguishing vestment that they wear on their left shoulder. In his address, the celebrant said that the core of the position of sub-deacon is service to the church, and he invited them to follow the example of Jesus, the Head of the Church.

He then congratulated His Holiness Aram I, the Seminary and families on the newly ordained servants of the church.
