Concluding Remark of H.H. Aram I at the Meeting of Representatives of Church and Community Organizations in Detroit

During his Pontifical visit to the Eastern Prelacy of the United States, on 22 May 2015, His Holiness Aram I met with the leaders of the Armenian community in Detroit. In his concluding remarks H.H. Aram I stressed the following points:

Ā

1) Our community is built up by number of organizations having the church as the center of our common life. Each of the organization has its specificities and priorities and we must preserve them, and avoid creating duplication, contradiction or polarization.

Ā

2) We are one nation. In our reflection and action we must have a holistic approach by maintaining the dynamic interaction between the homeland, diaspora and the local community, therefore we must develop pan-Armenian perspectives, reflections and actions. Oneā€™s priority should not be at the expense of the other. Strengthening of the local community means the strengthening of the diaspora and the homeland and the other way around. We must prioritize our priorities as a nation.

Ā

3) The enthusiasm that my visit generates in the life of the community must continue and must acquire concrete expressions.

Ā

Aram I developed these points in his intervention and thanked the Armenian community of Detroit for their warm reception.
